Hi Alexander,

I can certainly see how this photo calls to mind 'Farewell My Concubine'.

One of my favourite Chinese classics is 'Dream of the Red Chamber' or Hóng Lóu Mèng, written in the 18th century, with an epic number of characters, and perhaps as equally detailed a plot that borders in tone between worlds that are real and unreal (metaphysical)...

That photo reminds me of 'Farewell My Concubine'.

I will have to dive way deeper into Chinese culture and go beyond the surface of all the Kung Fu, Wuxia and Drama movies I've seen throughout my life. I've been listening to Wu Man a lot, too. With all that inspirational art in mind, it's time to get to them books and start reading.

Hi Wendy,

Wonderful hearing from you! And I'm sorry to hear that your LV Vernis Pearl is now stained, though from what you described, it doesn't sound too much of a disaster. I personally have Vernis bags that have taken on an entirely different hue due to too warm temperatures and too much sun, and decided they (kind of) looked pretty anyway.

Depending on what type of stain, I think the rubber eraser might be quite helpful at times, though no guarantees that it will work. In which case then, the stain transfer is unfortunately, there to stay.

On the upside, depending on the size of your item, you might be able to use it in a way that conceals the stain. So for example, carry the Vernis bag with stain facing inwards (?)

Still, I think the wear and tear of a bag in part, contributes to its beauty and its heritage. So I wouldn't worry too much, the Vernis in Pearl being one of the more beautiful colours of the Vernis collection to keep.

Hope that helps :)

With warm wishes,
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

So glad I found your blog. I love your style. You are foodie and fashionista too like me :) Oh, I love to travel too.

What brought me to your blog was your post on ebay on how to clean my beloved Vernis. I am so careful with my handbags but recently I notice a ink like transfer stain on my white Vernis!!! Yikes! I don't know how this happened. I always put it back in the dust bag and never subject it to extreme temperatures. I called LV and they couldn't help me.

Please help! Should I attempt the rubber eraser? The marks are faint. It definitely looks like a transfer from something.

Thank you so much! Any insight will be greatly appreciated!

Cheers and sunshine,

Wendy

Dear Jesus McKay,

Thank you for dropping by my blogsite and for the link to the Almond Expert website. I especially enjoyed reading about the sensations of sweet almond oil, that included a facial mask recipe. Much appreciated for tired evenings, after work. Admittedly, I am not myself an almond expert, in which case, I have very little tacit knowledge in that area if that is the subject of writing you are asking.

I could if you like, pass on your interest of a writer search on almonds to some friends I have in the culinary field and have them get in touch with you.

Hope that helps.

With kind regards and Trevlig Valborg,
Cheryl

Hi Joyce,

Thank you for stopping by my blog and for your kind words.

I think Singapore is a challenging yet exciting place to live in right now because it is a country in a state of transition on several fronts, from cultural to socio-political.

That the "life partner project" can be placed together with the "career project" and "baby project" is no doubt on the minds of many young Singaporeans.

In part this has come about due to that Singapore is a country open to the pervasive influences of globalization. This in turn causes some tension between the life circumstances of greater individual mobility versus the more traditional social values of family, the larger social circle of friends and even some more conservative state policies, who often have an agenda of their own that in turn are placed on individuals to fulfill. One could argue too, that it is often the case that social trends and consciousness move faster than state policies on some things, due to one of two broad issues - (i) that it is often easier to let stay the infrastructure in place and make amendments only when absolutely necessary; (ii) that a sometimes more conservative approach to state policies is perhaps necessary for the overall stability of the social fabric. Still, social trends are on the move and this will in turn, in time, contribute to the transformational forces towards state level policies.

In my own circle of friends, I find a general trend towards a preference to remain individually autonomous. Some with life partners for example, prefer to remain unmarried in order to circumvent state housing policies, so that they can own more property together. Others in a partnership simply prefer to remain financially autonomous, which disentangles domestic administrative affairs and to a certain extent, streamlines household book keeping for example.

I completely agree with you when you say, "It all depends on what one would like to do and not to follow blindly on what the society hope you to do."

As they say, life is a journey and with it comes your own adventures. So live life, as best it fits You.

Wishing you, a good end of week / weekend,
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl,

It's a delightful and good read. I happen to be in the same context, I guessed, as most Singaporeans, stuck in between the old notion and new concept of "life partner project" and this feels so close to my heart. It all depends on what one would like to do and not to follow blindly on what the society hope you to do.

We all have only one life and it's not a wise choice to regret your choice because of social norms.
