I’ve been following the New York Fashion Week for Fall 2010 and by far, my favourite designs for Fall this year have emerged from Michael Kors.

It isn’t the extravagance and the use of furs that catches my attention, but rather the confidence to use those furs and not being apologetic about it is what floors me! It is this daring that is carried through in his designs that I find makes the collection coherent and desirable.

I’ve always been a huge fan of drapes and easy, clean-lined designs as seen in my favourite for AW 2009, Donna Karan. Michael Kors had this concept too reflected in his Fall 2010 collection, but added texture and a touch of luxury that most anyone would appreciate during this drought of an economic crisis.

Pure shining, metallic gold is a major theme in his collection and being a fan of that colour, particularly for shoes, I’m lapping it up and wondering where I can get my hands on a slinky piece of gold clothing already now, before the spring hits!

Neutrals such as sand, camel, beige will be colours to look out for this upcoming autumn / winter season and large, textured knits that fall easy over the silhouette is a trend that has been around, and I’m glad to see that it will continue to stick around for awhile more. There’s nothing quite like cozying up to the winter snow in soft stylish knitwear.

Kors’ easy cut and fall on the silhouette is also reflected in his designs for outerwear. A clean black coat that drapes at the edge of the shoulders exudes relaxed confidence, comfort and elegance at the same time.

What’s hot for Fall 2010 from other designers are floor sweeping skirts and coats, seen in Richard Chai and Jen Kao. From Kors, lengths are also getting longer though no less sexy as seen in this below the knee pencil skirt that skims the thighs.

Generally, what I’m loving about Michael Kors’ Fall 2010 collection is the assured sensuality and wearability of the designs. Designs that come through with a hint of luxe.
