Stephen Bruce and myself, Serendipity 3, New York.

Yesterday I took the opportunity to visit Serendipity 3 and meet with Stephen Bruce, the owner and one of the three founding Princes of New York’s legendary dessert restaurant and boutique.

Begun in 1952, Serendipity was one of the first restaurants in North America to turn dining into a theatrical experience, to create an ambiance as fun as the food that was served. Located near Bloomingdale’s in one of New York’s fashionable East Side neighborhoods, this dessert emporium fills two floors of a historic townhouse and the ambiance is very cozy.

Frozen hot chocolate dessert.

Decked out with original Tiffany lamps, black-and-white floors, fabulous Victorian oversized posters, and idiosyncratic adornments, the restaurant takes you down the rabbit hole into a fairy-tale world. I’ll be back with more pictures in another post on Serendipity.

Stephen just celebrated his 60th birthday, Happy Birthday Stephen!
